We are happy to announce that the Alertys OnFarm Pregnancy Test has won the Innov'Space 2022 award as the best innovation for producers categories 1-star. Innov’Space is a key moment each year right before the famous international exhibition for animal breeding SPACE in France, in which companies can submit their candidacy for their innovative products.
A jury of experts, independent of the SPACE organisation, examines with utmost neutrality and confidentiality the new products proposed by the exhibitors. It selects the products, equipment or services which present a significant innovation. The innovations are classified in three categories based on the level of value for farmers or end users of the product or service: 1 star or 2 stars, and 3 stars for jury's special mention.
In total this year, 103 applications were studied by the jury, which was divided into six commissions: poultry, cattle, pigs, animal feed, agricultural machinery, and equine.
This jury is made up of engineers from Chambers of Agriculture, Technical Institutes, INRAE (French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment), INPI (French Institute for patent rights), veterinarians, producers and journalists from the specialised press. The Innov’Space award creates the opportunity to communicate effectively on the creativity of IDEXX and how Alertys OnFarm adds value to the end users.
The Alertys OnFarm Pregnancy Test
The test was launched by IDEXX in 2021 and is the first point-of-care bovine pregnancy test for cattle producers. The Alertys OnFarm Pregnancy Test empowers producers to conveniently find open animals any time, directly on-farm and within a few minutes to take timely action to re-breed and improve their profitability.
The Alertys OnFarm Pregnancy Test detects pregnancy-associated glycoproteins (PAGs) in whole blood (EDTA) as early as 28 days post-breeding and 70 days post-calving. Producers can:
Make decisions quickly with direct and accurate results to find non pregnant animals (>99% accurate)
Improve reproductive performance with earlier pregnancy diagnosis from 28 days post-AI
Control pregnancy diagnosis with flexible on-farm, cow-side testing
The test is still relatively new in the market and while we are running user trials in some countries we already successfully launched it in others and received very positive feedback from current users.
